Read this if you encounter the error message "Unexpected error, Quitting" when starting TIFNY
Some users have reported that they encounter the error message "Unexpected error, quitting" immediately upon starting TIFNY. This happened when they installed the Microsoft's XP Service Pack 1 or Windows media player 9 beta update. It seems to be caused by the Window's media player update which was also included in the XP Service Pack. The update did not correctly re-register the active movie control which TIFNY uses to render videos and play music files.
We updated our installation program to correct this problem. You can fix this problem by downloading and installing the latest TIFNY installation package tifny40.exe. Or you can just fix it manually on your computer by following these instructions:
- Choose Run from the Windows Start menu.
- Enter the command below in the input box
regsvr32 msdxm.ocx
- Press OK.
This command is completely harmless and cannot cause any damage to your system. When the command succeeds, you can simply start TIFNY by choosing it from the Programs section of the Windows Start menu.
